2021 Summer online meeting of BRICS NU International Thematic Group on Energy was held on MPEI Cisco Webex platform on June 30, 2021. The meeting was arranged by National Research University “Moscow Power Engineering Institute”, Russia. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Igor. Zhelbakov. The following BRICS NU coordinators took part in the ITG Energy meeting:

  • Prof. Igor. Zhelbakov and Dr. Shirinskii, National Research University “Moscow Power Engineering Institute”, Russia
  • Prof. Rajiv O. Dusane, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, India
  • Prof. Yonghui Sun, Hohai University, China
  • Prof. Irina Obukhova, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (State University), Russia

1. The chair of the meeting Prof. Zhelbakov thanked Indian universities for a number of events organized in 2021, the year of India’s BRICS presidency.

2. Dr. Shirinskii from National Research University “Moscow Power Engineering Institute” (Russia) informed the audience about Russian NCC draft Concept of academic mobility at BRICS Network University. The text was delivered to partner universities in advance and Dr. Shirinskii highlighted key features of the Concept. All partner universities should send their comments, suggestions and corrections to MPEI in a week.

3. During the discussion, a general opinion was formulated on the preferred implementation of academic mobility: partner universities of ITG Energy are interested in a short-time academic exchange of PhD-students to take part in ongoing research projects of host university and make a joint publication of its results. To start academic exchange program two universities should sign Memorandum of understanding with main principles of such exchange. For each certain PhD-student trip a Learning Agreement form could be used specifying details of such exchange.

4. All coordinators presented existing types of financial aid in their countries for arranging academic exchange. Such aid could be released at the governmental and university levels.

5. Prof. Dusane from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay presented student’s conference, which could be organized in the form of webinar series in September involving all partner universities of ITG Energy. Such webinar should include guest lecture on selected topic followed by student’s reports. The first call should be in the early September after summer vacations.
