On April 7-8, 2016, in Ekaterinburg (Russia) the 1st Conference of NU BRICS Universities-participants took place. Within the Conference 6 thematic groups of universities on 6 priority directions for new network university were formed.
In the thematic group “Energy” Universities of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa have entered.
On the 1st stage of new network university creation National Research University “Moscow Power Engineering Institute” became a coordinator on “Energy” direction.
At the conference MPEI Vice-Rector Vladimir N. Zamolodchikov signed a protocol on the membership of MPEI in network university BRICS. In addition to the protocols letter of intent with the new partner-universities, members of BRICS NU were signed. During the event common areas for cooperation in the energy field identified, tasks and timing of implementation were considered, the Brazilian project in the field of energy was taken into account, functions of the Ënergy”direction coordinator were marked.
