​Call for applications on fundamental scientific research 2017 hold by the Russian Foundation for Fundamental Research and organizations - participants of the BRICS Framework program in the area of science, technologies and innovations

Federal Government Budgetary Institution "The Russian Foundation for Fundamental Research" and the organizations from Russia, Brazil, China, India and the Republic of South Africa - participants of the BRICS Framework program in the area of science, technologies and innovations, acting on the basis of the Regulations on the BRICS Framework program in the sphere of science, technologies and innovations declare performing the Call for applications on fundamental scientific research 2017.

General provisions

Applicants can present the projects on fundamental scientific research performed by private persons and/or groups of persons from Russia, Brazil, China, India and the Republic of South Africa on the following fields:

• Prevention and monitoring of natural disasters
• Water resources and pollution treatment
• Geospatial technology and its applications
• New and renewable energy, and energy efficiency
• Astronomy
• Biotechnology and biomedicine including human health and neuroscience
• Information technologies and high performance computing
• Ocean and polar science and technology
• Material science including nanotechnology
• Photonics

The term of execution of research project presented must be 2 or 3 years.

Each project shall be provided by scientists at least from three different participating countries. The project can be provided by one scientist or a group of scientists (National Collective). The number of the National Collectives representing the country is determined by the participating organization of the BRICS Framework program of the respective country. Only one National Collective from Russia can participate in each project.

The National Collectives that have been united for submission of the Project constitute the International Scientific Consortium. Under the covenant of participants of International Scientific Consortium the Head of Consortium is chosen among the participants.

National Collectives from the different participating countries approve together the name of the scientific project, team structure, participation of each National Collective in the Project.

On behalf of the International Scientific Consortium the Head of Consortium submits the application for participation of the Project in the competition to the Secretariat. The application is submitted in English in electronic form (you can find more details about terms and the form of application on the Internet page of the Secretariat of the competition).

National Collectives submit the Project to the participating organizations of the BRICS Framework program of their countries. The project is allowed to the competition if all National Collectives have submitted the Project to the relevant participating organization of the BRICS Framework program.

Attention: the name of the Project has to be identical in the Application of Russian National collective and in the Application of the International Scientific Consortium submitted to the Secretariat of the competition.

The Russian National Collective has the right to submit the application for participation in the competition to any Russian participating organization of the BRICS framework program.

In the present Announcement there are defined the conditions (rules) of submission of projects and registration of applications for participation of projects in the competition for the Russian National Collectives presenting the Project to the Fund.

Registration of applications for participation of projects in the competition takes place in KIAS Russian Federal Property Fund since May 18, 2016 till 17 hours 00 minutes Moscow time on August 25, 2016.

The printed copy of the Application with all annexes shall be provided to the Fund till 17 hours 00 minutes Moscow time on September 05, 2016.

1.6. In case of support of the Project and provision of the grant for its performance the Project manager and members of collective

A) assume the following obligations:

- before submission of the final report to publish together with members of the National Collectives who have been united in the International Scientific Consortium that has provided the Project in the competition, results of researches on the Project in the reviewed scientific publications.
